Thames Elementary was recently featured in the Mississippi Professional Educators journal. The Fall 2014 issue of the MPE journal has an article about the many things that the staff at Thames are doing to help their students be successful. Thames recently saw a double digit improvement in their QDI (part of the state s accountability model). The focus at Thames has been to meet the needs of students in new and innovative ways and to introduce the idea of self-efficacy to parents and students. Through a number of parent sessions and communications, the school tried to give parents and students a better understanding of what was expected of each student and what it took to get there. By taking their focus away from the scores and focusing on the student growth and learning, Thames has started a trend of success that they hope to continue for years to come.     You can read the full article here: www.mpe.org
