Second round of presidential elections in Greece
In Greece today held the second round of presidential elections copyright after the first round, held on 17 December, lawmakers from the ruling coalition failed to collect the necessary 200 votes in the 300-seat parliament to elect its candidate Stavros Dimas, says MIA .
According to estimates of analysts Dimas will not be selected even in the second round. Greek media reported yesterday that Dimas can get 169 votes in today's parliamentary vote, which still lacks the 11 votes required 180 needed for the third round.
According to a university study prepared by order of the Greek newspaper copyright "Kathimerini" Greeks positively evaluated bid Dimas and would like it to be elected by the Parliament, in order to avoid early elections.
