According to the study published in November 2014, France will peak at 19th among European countries with only 12% of companies (over 10 employees) using cloud services for a European average of 19%: uplifting !
In sixteen Member mos States, the cloud was mainly used for email services, particularly in Italy 86%, Croatia 85% and 84% in Slovakia, France arriving back of the pack with 62%. Cloud computing services were mainly used for storing files in eleven Member States, the highest proportions were observed in Ireland 74%, UK 71%, Denmark and Cyprus (70% each ), France 61% capping, while hosting the company's database was the most common use of the cloud in the Netherlands to 64% (France, reaching 49%).
Companies are already using cloud services have reported on several factors limiting the wider use of these services. The risk of a security breach was reported by 39% of businesses in the EU28 as a factor limiting the main, however, some differences are observed between large firms (57%) and small businesses (38%). Large firms and SMEs also differ somewhat in respect of other limiting factors. The uncertainty about the applicable legislation (46% against 31% for SMEs) and on the location of the data (46% against 29% for SMEs) completed the top three factors limiting greater use of cloud in large companies. The costs of cloud services (32% for both SMEs than for large companies) and lack of knowledge of these services (32%, against 17% for large companies) were in second position of the limiting factors in small and medium enterprises. For companies in the EU are not yet using cloud services, the lack of knowledge in 2014 was the primary factor preventing them from using the cloud (this reason was cited by 42% of companies do not use the cloud), followed mos by the risk of security breaches (37%). These two main blocking factors are found in all economic sectors, with the exception of the IT & Communication sector and that of the professional, scientific and technical services. For businesses of the last two economic sectors, the security risks were mentioned as the first limiting factor, while reasons related to the uncertainty as to the applicable law and as to the location of the data included in the second position of the factors preventing them from using the cloud.
