Eurostat: the unemployment rate in the euro area "CIED Auch-Gascogne
In the euro area (ZE18), the unemployment rate adjusted for seasonal variations rose to 11.5% in August 2014, stable compared to July 2014 but down from the rate of 12.0% in August 2013. In the EU28, the unemployment rate stood at 10.1% in August 2014, the lowest rae level since February 2012. The August 2014 rate is down from a rate of 10.2 % from July 2014 and that of 10.8% from August 2013.
These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. Eurostat estimates that, in August 2014, 24.642 million men and women were unemployed in the EU28, of which 18.326 million in the euro area. Compared with July 2014, the number of unemployed fell by 134,000 in the U E28 and 137 000 in the euro area. Compared with August 2013, unemployment fell 1.745 million people in the EU28 and 834 000 in the euro area.
Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria (4.7%), Germany (4.9%), and highest rae in Greece (27.0% in June 2014) and Spain (24.4%). rae In one year, the unemployment rate fell in twenty-two Member States, rose in four and remained stable in two others.
