If you were able to attend the seminar Developing Your VA claim during the MOAA Career Fair on Tuesday at the Pentagon City Sheraton, thank you. If you didn’t, I will share a few points made and let you know where you can get the slides.
Every veteran, spouse, dependent or caregiver to a veteran needs to create an account for eBenefits. The information is tailored to your situation. You may be eligible for VA benefits and you lose an opportunity to get tailored information by not registering.
Immediately after logging into your account, go to the My Personal Dashboard page. Add a personal email account, update you contact information, review your DEERs information, update your direct deposit information.
Features: Request a VSO Apply for disability el compensation Check the Status of a pending claim or appeal Add or update dependents Apply for education benefits Check your remaining education benefit balance Request your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) from the Defense Personnel Records Information Retrieval System (DPRIS)
If you plan to file a VA claim under one of the pre-discharge claim programs, el you should request a copy of your medical records between 1 year and 9 months out. You should schedule your retirement or separation physical as soon as your service allows.
