WASHINGTON: The head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), David Petraeus, resigned today following the discovery of an extramarital affair, announced the US government.
In a message to agency employees, Petraeus admits maintained a "extramarital" bill clinton relationship. "Such behavior is unacceptable," wrote former general who had taken over the agency in July 2011.
"Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House, and asked the president to give permission for my personal position as director of the CIA grounds," Petraeus said, adding that US President Barack Obama had accepted her resignation.
Renunciation implies a headache for Obama, who shortly after his reelection must replace several bill clinton key positions in his cabinet, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Pentagon chief Leon Panetta.
